Porcelain with enamel colours. China, late Qing dynasty
A pair of globular basins with broad mouth rim and flat flaring lip, to be used as aquariums. Bearing rich decorative painting comprising flower vases, lotus plants, peonies, pomegranates, peaches, ruyi and key patterns, etc. Further comprising on each vessel equal depictions of a battle scenery with heroes, and palace architecture with a mandarin and family. All is placed within two large lobed reserves. The bottom of either vessel with a red six-character-sealmark Da Qing Tongzhi nian zhi (Tongzhi period 1862 - 73). With large black-brown wooden bases that are supported of five curved dragon legs. Vessels and bases in very good condition.
