Repoussé. India, approx. 19th to 20th cent.
Depiction of four mythological figures, all standing on a wide base and each on their own round pedestal, except for the ape god Hanuman. He is kneeling in adoration of Rama. Rama, an incarnation of Vishnu, is holding one hand on Hanuman’s crown as a sign of gratitude for helping his army to rescue his consort Sita. She is standing next to Rama, the figure on the outer left with the gesture of procreation could perhaps be Sugriva, who is often identified with Hanuman. Decorative accessary elements, framed behind glass.
