The large-bellied lucky god in a flowing robe that is open at the front, with his smiling head directed upwards and one finger pointing towards the sky. Budai, who was supposedly a clairvoyant monk in the 10th cent., is generally worshipped as Buddha in China – particularly in the form of Milo Fo (Maitreya) or the future Buddha – where he is also considered to be his incarnation. Beautiful dark-brown patina. With wooden base. 黃青銅造布袋立像. 中國, 約 1900 年左右. 高 12 厘米.
