Representing military success, the dove (hata) is the companion animal of the Hachiman (God of War); this pair of menuki is very refined, and showing two birds, one with the head directed forward while the other is arranged with the head turned back, each with a silvered breast section and gilt tail feathers.

In Japan ist die Taube Hata - Begleittier des Kriegsgottes Hachiman - ein Symbol des kriegerischen Erfolges. Die eine Taube hat ihren Kopf gerade nach vorne gerichtet, die andere nach hinten gedreht. Bei beiden ist die Brust versilbert und sind die Schwanzfedern golden.
