Jade. China, late Neolithic period, probably Qijia culture, c.2200-1900 BC
A very small cong with large inner opening. Nearly white jade with good translucence, impressive color contrast because of the border stone – one side is nearly black, with grain and dark-brown areas, presumably chosen due to this effect. Intense blood-red areas appear in focused backlighting. On the black side is a larger area with weathering. The irregularity of the interior drilling is typical for the period, ground from both sides, a tier in the center. The polish is very good and preserved. 玉琮 - 齊家文化, 公元前2200-1900, 高3,9厘米, 宽 2,2 CM
HEIGHT 3,9 CM; WIDTH 2,2 CM
