Yellow bronze. India, 17th – 18th cent.
The little interesting bronze integrates here – rarely seen – the high gods Vishnu and Shiva in one person in front of a curved halo. The raised hands with wheel (discus) and shankha (shell) show the main attributes of Vishnu. In the front hands are hiking stick and skull, indicating the time when Shiva lived as an ascetic in Himalaya. In front is Shiva′s bull Nandi and - tiniest – a dog, also from the ascetic period of Shiva.
