拍品描述: Netsuke, ivory. Japan, 18th - 1st half 19th cent. This very compact figural netsuke is a caricature of a Chinese merchant, working in a colony on Kyushu before the end of the Japanese isolationist foreign policy. The man with a slight hump is clad in Chinese clothes with long, broad sleeves, has long hair and a smiling, slightly foolish expression.
