拍品描述: Sandstone. In the style of Khmer-art, presumably 14th - 15th cent. Very expressive fragment of a larger sculpture - the unusual head, however, is preserved in its entirety. Large open eyes with a level look, small nose and straight fleshy lips. Coronal with pelletized fringe and lotus leaf row, a floral composition in between. It is tied on the back with a bow. Directly above, a completely contrasting face; the grimace of a guardian demon with wide-open staring eyes and mouth with large fangs. A conical stub above. Signs of age with weathering, mounted on a black iron base. HEIGHT (WITHOUT BASE) 52,5 CM From a German private collection -
