拍品描述: Indian ink and paint on silk. Korea, Choson, 19th century. A pair of fishing ducks floating in water in the lower section of the picture. Above the ducks is a steeply rising rock cliff with sharp points under which bamboo is growing and upon which a blossoming plum tree branch rises. The composition is very adeptly designed; the contrast between the more unhurried, round, soft quality of the birds and the sharp-edged upward movement of the cliff gives the painting a sense of excitement. Both ducks are to a large extent very naturalistic in their details, but at the same time very distinctly stylised. The vertical, dominated above all by the rock cliff and the branches, is continued on the upper left by the doublerow inscription which is painted in Chinese symbols and partially shortened in calligraphy.
