拍品描述: Soapstone. China, Qing Tall oval base, depicting a rocky crag, upon which the ox stands on its steep surface with its head turned to the shepherd boy sitting on his back. The motif is very well-known and based on a parable from Chan-Buddhism (in Japan Zen), depicting enlightenment levels in pictures. The ox niu is second position in the zodiac.
