拍品描述: Bamboo. China, late Qing Dynasty An attractive pair of brush pots with deeply carved relief, each from one segment of a bamboo trunk. The depiction offers tall pines and rocks (both - also the bamboo – are long life symbols), in front water and a large boat set sail. A man sits under the boat′s roof and looks forward curiously, the other manages the sail, both are "literati". Presumably they are just now going by the "Red Cliff" on Yangzi River, site of a historically famous battle. Lovely red-brown coloring, patina. The second piece is from the same carver, has the same relief, although executed in mirror image.
