Second half 19th century, Boston, Massachusetts. The case with scrolling crest above a molded cornice, the case with molded circular aperture above the throat mounted with original Howard throat glass in black burgundy and gold above the molded base with shell and foliet scrolled pendant apron. The brass 8 day movement engraved "E. Howard & Co./BOSTON". Weight board present, weight absent. The 9" enameled dial with Roman numeral chaptering centering a time only aperture, the dial marked "E. Howard & Co. BOSTON". The Damascene pendulum bob appears to have acid or some other corrosive liquid spilled on it, the pendulum rod of rectangular oak with gold paint possible replacement. Case has been cleaned and polished within the last 40 years, with losses to ears on apron. Throat glass has had paint repairs, weight absent as note, pendulum as noted, dial has been cleaned and re-coated including numerals and words. Brass movement appears original. Overall fair.
