Of typical form, the gallery with carved urn finials and crenelated crest above the central panel with incised foliate carving flanked by full gallery borders. The rectangular case with hinged frontal apron above a pair of hinged cabinet doors, each with curved top and burl walnut panels, mounted on original cast-iron hinges opening to a fully fitted interior, the centermost with hinged lid over a bank of short drawers flanked by letter and document slots, all with bird’s eye maple panels. The lid hinged and opening to an additional interior fitted with a full complement of stationery compartments and an arrangement of small drawers, all with bird’s eye maple fronts. The cabinet doors with a full complement of compartments and openings on the left door facing. The right door facing with a bank of forty drawers composed of cardboard, each mounted with a brass ring pull, the drawer fronts covered with fabric and green paint. The desk raised on a trestle base. The case sides with recessed, molded panels. Desk retains original surface, professionally cleaned and polished. Surfaces with minor and minimal in-use wear. Small and light abrasions on rear panel at top and bottom. Hardware appears original.
