拍品描述: Description: DANCING GANESHA.Central India. 10th c.Sandstone with residue of red pigment. The corpulent god is also called Ganapati, and he is depicted as usually with his trunk in a bowl of sweets. He also holds in one of his eight hands a battle axe as a symbol that he is ready to cut off any obstructing attachments and a string with which he can draw his followers to higher goals. He is richly adorned with jewels around his chest and on the forehead. The small accompanying figures above him and to his side are making music for him. Height 66.5cm, width 33cm, depth 9cm. Der wohlbeleibte Gott wird auch Ganapati genannt und wie meist zeigt ihn die Darstellung mit dem Rüssel in einer Schale mit Sü?igkeiten. Zudem h?lt er in einer seiner sechs H?nde eine Streitaxt als Symbol dafür, dass er bereit ist alle hindernden Anhaftungen zu kappen und eine Schnur, mit welcher er seine Anh?nger zu h?heren Zielen ziehen kann. Er ist reich geschmückt mit Ketten um die Brust und auf der Stirn. Die klein dargestellten Begleitfiguren über ihm und seitlich musizieren für ihn. H?he 66,5cm, Breite 33cm, Tiefe 9cm. Zustand A/B.
