This vibrant painting is titled Summer House. It combines a pointillistic approach to impressionism with color theories developed in the 1950's. It is the creation of Bruce Wood, an artist who is known as a painter and print maker.
Summer House was painted c.1995 at Wood's Lakeside, Michigan studio. The image was licensed by Rhinehart Fine Art in New York, which was a major fine art poster publisher. Since then, this painting has been on display in the artist's home.
The acrylic on canvas painting is studio-fresh, and framed in a gold-metal leafed wooden frame. The frame is in good condition, with a few minor dings on the outer edges.
Canvas size is 16"x20" and the frame is 23"x27"
Bruce Wood received formal art training at Massachusetts College of Art (BFA), and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (MFA).
He is founder of the fine art printmaking atelier AFA Press in Lakeside, Michigan, and the former Fenway Galleries in Chicago and Lakeside, Michigan.
Currently he is the oil painting conservator and director of the Woodshed Gallery in Franklin, Massachusetts, and an active member of the Lyme Art Association, Cape Cod Art Association, and several other New England art associations.
Bruce Wood's prints and paintings are in the collections of the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris, the University of Alabama, and the Rockford Art Museum in Illinois.
