拍品描述: LePage: Trophys of the Hunt with George Goulet Champaigne and Ewer, signed LePage and dated (18)84. Oil on canvas, installed in a hand-carved gilt wooden frame c.1900. Note: There is evidence in the tacking margins that the strainer is not original to the canvas; The strainer is American-made with copyright 1885 (a year after the date on the painting); The size is not standard to American paintings of the period. This leads to the conclusion that the painting is of European origin, shipped to the USA rolled and later framed. The creation of the painting was in the year that Jules Bastien-Lepage died, but the signature does not match his known markings. The high quality of the painting indicates that it was created by an artist of training and stature, but at present no records have been found to determine the identity of LePage.
