A PALE GREEN JADE 'BOVINE' MASK, SPRING AND AUTUMN PERIODChina, 6th-5th century BC. Of square form with notched edges, finely carved to one side in shallow relief with the horns, eyes, and nose of a bovine, richly detailed with neat incision work and surrounded by densely arranged C-scrolls, the upper corners each with a dragon head. Pierced with two small apertures for suspension. The translucent stone of a pale green tone with brown inclusions and dark specks.Provenance: From a private collection in France.
