China, 475-221 BC. Each of flattened form, elegantly carved to depict a crouching feline shown in profile and densely carved on both sides with scroll designs as well as incised striations to the curling tail. The mouth and tail pierced with suspension holes. The semi-translucent stones are of a pale celadon color with russet inclusions, and areas of calcification. (2)Provenance: The Collection of Sam and Myrna Myers, Paris, France. Acquired between circa 1965-2012. An old label with collector's number '126 4099' accompanies the lot. Condition: Very good condition with expected old wear, signs of weathering, erosion, traces of prolonged burial, nibbling, and surface alterations.
