拍品描述
China, circa 17th to 18th century or earlier. Finely potted with deep, rounded sides rising from a short foot, covered overall with an opaque sky-blue glaze at the center, thinning to lavender-blue and yellow at the rim, pooling elegantly around the body, and stopping unevenly just above the unglazed foot.Provenance: The Collection of Sam and Myrna Myers, Paris, France, acquired in Lyon, 4 April 1980.Condition: Good condition with minor wear and firing flaws including few small open bubbles, two half-moon shaped cutting marks to the exterior, several smoothened glaze drops, light fritting to the rim, dark spots, glaze recesses, particularly near the foot.Weight: 574 g Dimensions: Height 8 cm, Diameter 18.5 cmThe sky-blue tones of the glaze of this bowl are traditionally considered to be the most desirable color for Jun wares. One of the 'Five Classic Wares' (wu da yao) of the Song dynasty, Jun ware was much admired over the centuries by both Chinese and Western connoisseurs for the beautiful depth and intensity of its glaze, which varies from a thick opaque sky-blue to brilliant mauves and lavenders.Literature comparison:Compare a related, blue-glazed Jun bowl, dated to the 13th century, 19.7 cm (diameter), in the Palace Museum, inventory number 009580N000000000. Note that this type served as the prototype for the present lot.
