China, 1662-1722. Well potted, the compressed globular body supported on a short, slightly tapered foot and surmounted by a slender, cylindrical neck with a flanged rim. The porcelain body decorated in underglaze cobalt blue on a clear white ground with a dense array of blossoming lotus and leafy stems, one tendril climbing onto the neck of the vessel, framed above by an encircling lozenge patterned band.The neck is fitted with a silver mount and lid finely worked in the form of a lotus blossom, as is the small spout, similarly detailed and incised. Both fittings linked by a delicate silver chain.Provenance: From The Sam and Myrna Myers Collection, Paris, France. Acquired between circa 1965-2012.Condition: Excellent condition with only minor wear and firing-inherent irregularities. Light tarnishing to silver with occasional minute dents.
