拍品描述
PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE CANADIAN COLLECTOR A FAMILLE ROSE LIME-GREEN-GROUND 'LOTUS AND BAJIXIANG' BEAKER VASE Jiaqing six-character iron-red mark and of the period Derived from the archaic bronze gu prototype, the slender vase with flared neck above a globular mid-section supported on a bell-shaped foot, finely painted with the 'Eight Buddhist Emblems' amidst stylized lotus patterns between ruyi-head and lappet boarders, the foot decorated with a band of red keyfret pattern, the interior and underside glazed in turquoise, the base of the neck with a band of blue keyfret flanking the one-line six-character Jiaqing seal mark in iron-red. 10 1/2in (26.7cm) high Footnotes 清乾隆 「大清嘉慶年製」單行樊紅篆書款 洋彩綠地番蓮八寶紋觚 Provenance: Acquired by the father of the present owner, thence by descent 來源: 由現任藏家的父親購藏,承繼至今 Five-piece famille-rose garniture sets enameled with scrolling lotus and bajixiang against a white or colored ground were first produced during the Qianlong reign (r. 1735-1796) and continued under the Jiaqing (r. 1796-1820) and subsequent emperors. A full garniture set would have comprised a ding-form tripod censer, two gu-form vases, and a pair of candlesticks. These would have been placed in imperial ancestral halls and temples such as the Temple of Ancestors and the Hall of Ancestors in the Forbidden City, and in non-official halls including the Shouhuangdian located in Jinshin, the park that lay immediately north of the Shenwu gate within the grounds of the Imperial Palace. Depending on the setting, these garnitures could be used by the imperial family for official or more personal ancestral worship and ritual devotion. A full Jiaqing mark and period five-piece lime-green-ground famille-rose 'lotus and bajixiang' garniture set sold at Sotheby's, New York, 16 March 2016, lot 308; and another sold at Christie's, Hong Kong, 3 June 2015, lot 3021. Gu-form vases from garnitures of this palette and period have also come to market, including a pair sold at Sotheby's, New York, 20 March 2012, lot 92; and a singular vase sold at Sotheby's, Hong Kong, 23 October 2005, lot 440. For gu-form vases of the same design and period, but with a pink ground, see a pair sold at Christie's, Hong Kong, 3 December 2021, lot 2930.
