拍品描述
Netsuke, ivory. Japan, late 19th cent. An unusual curved, also solid, heavy netsuke depicting a barge moving through churning water. It carries all seven Shichi Fukujin (gods of luck), especially dominant is the naked, fat-bellied Hotei. Next to him Ebisu, Patron of the Fisher, is pulling a carp on his line. Between both is Jurojin, left behind him bearded Daikoku with his "wealth hammer" on his back. At far outer left, the militant Bishamon holds his lance toward the bow, at outer right are the female Benten with lute as well as bald-headed Fukurokuju. Below him at the rear is the script character Ju for long life, also in his name. Three himotoshi and collection number written in red lacquer.
