A PARCEL-GILT COPPER REPOUSSE FIGURE OF AMITAYUS, MONGOLIA, 18TH - 19TH CENTURY

Buddha Amitayus seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with the hands lowered in dhyana mudra, richly adorned in intricate jewelry, wearing a long flowing robe and billowing shawl pooling beautifully at the base. The deity is skillfully portrayed with a serene expression framed by neatly arranged hair with a tall ushnisha. The hem of his robe and his necklace are engraved with scrolling vines and geometric designs.

Provenance: Austrian private collection.
Condition: Wear, casting flaws, several dents, and losses, still presenting well.
