A SMALL BRONZE FIGURE OF ANNAPURNA

South India, 17th-18th century. Seated in padmasana on a lotus base raised on a stepped plinth, the goddess of food and nourishment portrayed holding a ladle and bowl to distribute food among her devotees. Dressed in a saree with a kosavum to the back, richly adorned with jewelry, the head crowned with a kiritamakuta and backed by a shirashchakra.

Provenance: Dominique Sirvain, 2009. Collection Particulière Fran?aise, acquired from the above.
Condition: Good condition with casting flaws and extensive wear, predominantly from centuries of worship. Tiny nicks, minor dents, light scratches, encrustations. The bronze with a fine, smooth patina.
