A BRASS FIGURE OF KHANDOBA AND MHALSA, 18TH-19TH CENTURY

India. Khandoba (Shiva) seated atop a caparisoned horse, next to the figure of Mhalsa, holding a sword in one hand and a bowl in the other. Standing on a raised base, the horse flanked by a small dog and a separately cast arch decorated with geometric designs, a five-headed naga, and a central kirtimukha. Both figures are wearing diaphanous dhotis with boldly engraved folds, jewelry, and tall crowns.

Provenance: Viennese private collection.
Condition: Good condition with minor wear, casting flaws, small nicks, minor dents, and a small repair to the arch.
