SHOUNSAI: COURTESAN KIMI ON AN ELEPHANT
奥地利
2015年11月14日 开拍 / 2015年11月14日 截止委托
拍品描述
Netsuke, ivory. Japan, 1st half 19th cent. Compact and finely crafted work in all details, a very good miniature sculpture. Kimi was a prostitute in the village Eguchi, her full name is therefore Eguchi no Kimi. Because she industriously studied Buddhist sutras – the netsuke shows it – she became over time the incarnation of Fugen Bosatsu, the bodhisattva Samantabhadra, whose mount is the elephant. Fine facial features, the elephant looks very pleased with Kimi. On back is a long hair braid, patina, himotoshi below and black colored signature SHO-UN-SAI 什 雲 齋 . The artist is Shounsai Joryu from Tokyo. HEIGHT 3,9 CM, WIDTH 4,5 CM From a German private collection
