YOSHITOMO: TIGER ON BAMBOO
奥地利
2015年11月14日 开拍 / 2015年11月14日 截止委托
拍品描述
Netsuke, Ivory. Japan, late 19th cent. A very symbolic depiction of a tiger as allegory of supreme power, the bamboo standing for its toughness and unsupressability. Tiger and bamboo are called take ni tora and embody the spirit of the Samurai warrior. The compact and powerful as well as well-rounded crafted netsuke shows tora (tiger, also in the zodiac) sitting on the take with his head looking back. He has black inlaid eyes. Bamboo leaves are carved on the bamboo piece through which the cord channel runs. The signature underneath YOSHI-TOMO 義 友 (see note). Note: This artist is not to be confused with Yoshitomo from Kyoto (18th cent.) as well as another Yoshitomo, while both have different signs for "Yoshi". HEIGHT 3,5 CM From an old German collection
