拍品描述
Jade. China, late Neolithic period, c.2200-1900 BC Characterful massive piece with impressive grain. the dominantly cool play of colors of this bi is exceptionally varied, resembling an inspired painting. Generally, the color is a bluisch green-grey with light as well as dark zones ranging to black. Partly like clouds, partly largescale stripes, many different veins are also featured and larger areas are darker. That these bi discs were symbols of the heavens, of the universe, can be clearly perceived in this example. The corrosive attack of the larger border zones results in an idiosyncratic effect and underscores the advanced age. On the other side minimal, thus this disc is almost flawlessly preserved. The central drilling is conical and was very carefully repolished, so that no drilling traces are shown. The outer edge is smooth. Impressive authentic preservation. 玉璧 - 新石器时代晚期, 铜器时代早期, 公元前2200-1900直径 26 厘米 DIAMETER 26 CM, HOLE 5,7 CM From an Austrian-Hungarian collection Accompanying this jade, is an expertise by Univ. Prof. Dr. Filippo Salviati. Also from him, is the following information about comparative examples from publicized excavations or offered from specialist literature: The type of composite jade and the technique used to drill the hole of this bi indicate a late Neolithic date. A two-segment disc in a similar type of bluish, speckled jade is in the Harvard Art Museums collections, acc. no. 1943.50.597, online image at: http://www.harvardartmuseums.org/collections/object/204625?position=0.
