Late 19th or early 20th century hand painted porcelain figure of a boy riding goat holding basket accompanied by piglet. Figurine rests on painted green, fitted composition base. The Ovington Brooklyn family who founded Ovington Brothers in 1846, one of the oldest china importing firms in the country, was located on the southeast corner of 5th Avenue and 32nd Street in New York City. Signed in iron red script on underside Ovington New York, Made in France and still bears the original Ovington paper label affixed to the undersigned. Also marked on reverse of base with blue crossed staff, possibly Sevres or Limoges. Good condition, small chip on tip of boy's cap. Measures 7.8 inches high x 7 inches wide.
