Chinese 19th century Qing dynasty porcelain enamel footed censer. The antique censer has unusual hand painted enamel decoration. Unsigned. The lid of the two-part censer has extremely intricate fretwork accented by bands with geometric design. The foo dog finial has finely detailed ornamental fur and open mouth showing teeth and tongue. The underside of lid has old incense residue and a small hole through which smoke will pass through the chamber of the foo dog body and exit the open mouth. The base of the censer is surprisingly heavy, weighing approximately 5 pounds. The base is decorated with incised enamel panels that depict various serpentine dragons against a floral and geometric decorated ground. Above the panels is an elevated fretwork section that repeats the design on the lid. The underside has a burnished texture typically found in antique porcelain. The base rests on four imperial yellow and jade green figural heads with pierced fangs and bulging eyes. In good condition. Measures 10.5 inches high x 7.3 inches wide.
