展覽 2006年10月21日至11月30日,「藏傳文化新藝術——黃鋼個展」,現代畫廊,台中 來源 台中現代藝術畫廊 原亞洲私人藏家直接購自上述來源 2008年6月15日,台中景薰樓春季拍賣會,拍品編號167 現亞洲重要私人藏家直接購自上述來源 附:台中現代藝術空間開立之原作保證書 註:畫背貼有台中現代畫廊及台中現代藝術空間展覽標籤 穿越時空的激昂共鳴 黃鋼的五星寓言 「沒有對某種堅不可摧的東西的持久信念,人就不能有尊嚴地生活下去,一切藝術皆亦然。」 ——黃鋼 1961年生於北京書香門第的黃鋼家學淵博,父親為中國藝術史教授,母親為文物鑒定家,自小受傳統藝術薰陶。而童年時期經歷文化大革命的震撼令其對文革後的新藝術思潮尤為關注。1980年考入中央工藝美術學院後就積極尋求藝術的自由表達、參與以藝術啟蒙社會的運動。畢業後,他以優異成績獲清華大學美術學院延攬任教,但基於對創作的追求,其於九十年代末毅然決定開啟獨立藝術家生涯。 黃鋼不僅是藝術家,亦是收藏家,其並由所收藏的佛經印版、鎏金佛手、高原皮具等物件中汲取靈感,將源遠流長的中國工藝精神帶入自身創作。他並不盲目學習西方,而如其所言「藝術家必須保持對時代的敏感度」,力求在西方佔據話語權的當代藝壇以東方語彙撐起一片藍天,反映屬於中國的時代特色。其曾於巴黎、柏林、台灣、香港等地展覽,並獲高度評價。 記憶與信仰的協奏曲 是次上拍的《三個五星》為黃鋼代表性的「五星系列」,為其中特別罕見描繪「三聯星」的創作,在過去逾三十年的拍賣中,僅此一例,極為難得。作品整體由縱向延伸的黑、紅、黑三塊木板組構。每塊木板中心刻有與底色相反的五角星,它們排列統一,令人聯想到沃荷(Andy Warhol)絲網印刷中的重複性、規律性。而於近處視之,黑彩處乍現一排排精巧緊湊的藏語經文。它們出自西藏僧人雕刻,在顏料下閃爍著神秘的光彩,傳遞虔誠的信仰。藝術家藉西方的拼貼手法,將具有古意和強烈精神性的木刻經文板作底,而疊加具歷史象徵意味的五星,其中繁複的文字和光滑的圖樣碰撞出時空的交錯,加深了作品的意涵,詮釋其「表現性和工藝性結合」的創作理念。 而在作品表面,融合礦物顏料、壓克力彩和中國大漆的特殊顏料,以自信暢快的瀟灑之筆在木板上潑塗。那精心繪製的黑紅撞色,形成內外嵌套的排列組合,實現「你中有我,我中有你」的概念。此處的「五星」代表黃鋼年少時每日肩扛紅旗上學的時代回憶,象徵熱血和激情,也代表國族的寓意,而「經文」卻是一種冷靜內斂的自省。兩種同樣象徵「信仰和理想」的符號被解構重組,令作品產生了一種既外放又含蓄的風格,既充滿視覺衝擊又富神秘氣息,在具有邏輯性的規律圖式中化為中庸之道。《三個五星》是黃鋼在經歷風雲年代後的追憶和反思,五星結合經文形成對立又統一的圖式,殊途同歸地展現陰陽共生的願景,正如其所言:「道路不一樣,但是所追求的理想是一樣的」。

With a father who was a professor of Chinese Art History and a mother who was an appraiser of cultural relics, Huang was frequently surrounded by traditional art since childhood. In his childhood years, Huang experienced the impact of The Cultural Revolution. Indeed, the major historical event transformed and excited Huang's modern thinking. In 1980, Huang attended the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, where he actively sought freedom of artistic expression. Upon graduation with honours, Huang was invited to teach at the Department of Fine Arts at Tsinghua University. Huang not only is an artist, but also identifies as an avid collector. His passion in traditional art inspired his collection of Buddhist sculpture plates, gilded Buddha hand figures, and exquisite leather goods. Such a diverse collection also inspired his own craftsmanship, which can be perceived as homage to traditional Chinese craftsmanship and its history. With a rich provenance, Huang aimed to engage and spread Eastern vocabulary and dialogue in the contemporary world where the West was seen as dominant. His goal to highlight and raise the characteristics of Chinese culture and delicacy is indeed admirable. His efforts are clearly shown, with exhibition provenance in Paris, Berlin, Taiwan and Hong Kong, all of which were highly praised and received. The Orchestra of Memory and Faith Three Red Stars is a stellar highlight in the upcoming auction. As part of Huang Gang's iconic Five-Star series, the trio-composition conveys three connecting stars, a rare work of Huang's documented in over 30 years of auction history. In a horizontal format, the background of black paint and boards extends from left to right, with a small section of red wood boards protruding above layers of black boards. In the center of each board section is a five-pointed star carved in the opposite colour of the background. They are arranged in a uniform manner that recalls the repetition and regularity of Andy Warhol's silkscreen printing. Viewing closely up the colour black reveals rows and rows of compact Tibetan scriptures inscribed in detail. Sculpted by Tibetan monks, they reflect a shine with a mysterious luster under the pigment, conveying a message of devotion and faith. On the surface of the work, a special pigment combining mineral pigments, acrylics and traditional Chinese lacquer is splashed onto the wood boards in a confident and unrestrained brushwork. Black and red contrasting colours are painted to form a nested arrangement of interior and exterior, which realizes the intimate concept of "you have me and I have you". Such collage layout and technique are more known to the West. With Huang's creative application and signature, this unique work emphasizes the representation and meaning behind the five stars. In a rich, deep red colour, the stars and brushwork convey an outward, extroverted style, with hints of subtlety that deliver a mysterious ambience around the work.
