Li Danlin (1846-1916) was a famous painter in the late Qing dynasty and the first Chinese artist to travel around the world and draw his impressions. On a three-year-long overseas journey following the Chinese ambassador Yang Ru, he travelled to many countries and continents such as Korea, Japan, the United States, Peru, and Europe, and later visited Vietnam, Cambodia, and the South Pacific islands at his own expense. He was versatile in different subjects, but was especially known for bird and flowers paintings.
