展覽 2017年4月1日至30日,「彭先誠:四時最好是三月」,耿畫廊,台北 來源 台北大未來耿畫廊 現亞洲重要私人藏家直接購自上述來源 附:台北大未來耿畫廊開立之藝術家親簽作品證書 態濃意遠淑且真 彭先誠以詩入畫重量級代表作《麗人行 1》面世 「彭先誠所作人物鞍馬,獨出己意,刻畫精到,技高不讓古人,而時代感則古今分明,一目了然。」 ——中國美術史學者萬青力 1941年生於四川成都的彭先誠,曾榮膺中國國家一級美術師、中國畫學會理事等多重榮譽。兒時的他在機緣下見徐悲鴻的《群馬圖》,受強烈震撼,常臨摹自習,青年時便一頭投入對藝術的追索。1962年畢業於成都第二師範學校,自此教學、創作不懈。四十歲時,他赴敦煌、新疆考察古代壁畫及人像,再受啟迪,逐漸確立個人風格。近年來,彭先誠老當益壯,積極舉辦個展,執著沉穩的他最終在水墨創作上步入臻境,備受佳譽。中國美術館、美國康乃爾大學美術館、四川省博物館等機構,以及英國查爾斯國王(King Charles III)、普林斯頓大學謝柏柯(Jerome Silbergeld)教授等均收藏其作。是次秋拍呈現其以詩入畫的磅礡代表作《麗人行 1》,為「麗人行」系列中人物數量第二多的巨作,顧盼生姿、僅以簡筆就將人物的情貌勾勒表現無疑。此作曾於2017年發表於藝術家台北個展「彭先誠:四時最好是三月」,並被特別選為邀請卡及海報曝光,標誌性可見一斑。 大唐盛景,風華正茂 《麗人行 1》表現唐代詩聖杜甫的名篇《麗人行》中主角虢國夫人一行人浩蕩出行、風華絕倫的盛景,彭先誠以當代繪畫語言重構詩詞歌賦的意境,反映出大唐國力強盛、兼容並蓄、自信開明的社會狀況。初見此作,首先定會被左側的一行馬隊吸引。此組核心人物為四位貴族女性,而頭排鮮衣怒馬的紅裙女子即為虢國夫人。她們體態豐勻,身著鮮紅、翠綠、黛紫的華美衣袍,自信大方地露出胸前肌膚,坦然地展現女子獨有的風韻,突顯盛唐女性地位空前提升、民風開放的社會實況。四人的烏黑秀髮挽成當時流行的「高髻」,如雲層高聳,製造突出的視覺效果,並佩戴華麗的紅色花簪,彰顯大氣個性的風貌。四匹神駒高昂頭顱、戴著紅纓,藝術家以寥寥幾筆墨線就勾勒出那精壯的筋骨、昂揚的神采,見其功力之高。而畫中幾位女子雙腿跨在馬鞍兩側,由一綠衣侍從引路,騎馬姿態與男子無異,令人想到唐代著名畫家張萱的《虢國夫人遊春圖》。據美術史論家孫克所言,「唐代女子騎馬過市,郊遊嬉戲的活動是後來宋明理學氾濫後不可想像的」,而彭先誠忠實地以詩為證,還原了那個充滿自由包容和氣勢萬千的盛唐,此亦恰與當代女性的社會地位相似,引人共鳴。 沒骨風韻,如夢似幻 此外,在此作中,彭先誠發揮了歷經50餘年磨煉、不遜古人的高深沒骨筆法,結合以當代靈動的光影色彩,為作品鋪展了極富層次的戲劇性光輝。全畫以濃墨重彩鋪設,背景中充滿寫意感的勁道墨線、鮮嫩明亮的綠彩大面積畫出草木復甦的春日氣氛,意蘊靈動而筆力勁健,在層層渲染之間展現張力。各組人物之間巧妙地以色彩和明暗的對比展現出有序的主次關係:虢國夫人一行以彩墨為主直接染出衣裙,佐以少許極簡的墨色刻畫髮髻及面部平和莊嚴的表情細節,好似唐代壁畫一般氣韻高古。白色、淡赭色的駿馬如春日白雪,散發淡淡的光輝。而道路兩旁的隨行侍從均以濃重墨色畫出,背對畫面為虢國夫人開路,近乎被草木遮掩,反襯主人公地位的高貴;前方步行的女樂者與馬隊之間隔有一定距離,她們抱著鼓樂琵琶的器物相互交談,活靈活現。奔放的大筆抹出她們深色衣裙,漸漸行至右側墨色之中,與其融為一體。戲劇性的明暗對比將虢國夫人一行傾國傾城、艷麗華美、氣場張揚的特點強化,令旁人黯然失色、莫敢近前,正契合杜甫詩句中的「炙手可熱勢絕倫,慎莫近前丞相嗔!」。彭先誠之畫氤氳朦朧、似真似幻、濃豔而不失秀雅,仿若今人遊歷雲端夢境所見之盛唐,令人神往!

Yet, the sense of contemporary spirit is distinct, clearly evident at a single glance." ——Chinese Art Historian Wan Qingli Born in 1941 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, Peng Xiancheng has been honoured with multiple accolades, including being recognized as a National First-class Artist and serving as a director of the Chinese Painting Society. During his childhood, he had a fortuitous encounter with Xu Beihong's painting Groups of Horses, which deeply moved him. He frequently practiced copying it and became immersed in the pursuit of art from a young age. In 1962, he graduated from Chengdu Second Normal School and has since dedicated himself tirelessly to teaching and artistic creation. At the age of forty, he embarked on research trips to Dunhuang and Xinjiang, studying ancient murals and portraiture, which further inspired him and led to the establishment of his personal style. In recent years, Peng Xiancheng has actively held solo exhibitions, and has reached the pinnacle of ink painting, garnering high acclaim. His works are collected by prestigious institutions such as the National Art Museum of China, Cornell University Art Museum in the United States, and Sichuan Provincial Museum, as well as esteemed individuals like King Charles III of the United Kingdom and Professor Jerome Silbergeld of Princeton University. In this autumn auction, one of his magnificent representative works, Demoiselles in an Outing 1, which is part of the moiselles in an Outing Series and features the second-largest number of figures, will be presented. This piece was previously showcased at the artist's solo exhibition in Taipei in 2017, titled Best Time of Year Falls in March: Peng Xiancheng Solo Exhibition, where it was specially selected as the exhibition poster, symbolizing its iconic status. The Majestic Splendour of the Great Tang Dynasty: Flourishing Elegance Demoiselles in an Outing 1 depicts a magnificent scene from the renowned Tang Dynasty poem Ode to Beautiful Ladies by the esteemed poet Du Fu. The painting showcases the grandeur of Lady of Guoguo and her entourage as they embark on a splendid journey. On the left side, a group of noblewomen on horseback takes the spotlight, with Lady of Guoguo, adorned in a vibrant red dress, positioned at the front. They possess voluptuous figures, adorned in splendid attire of vivid red, emerald-green, and dark purple. Confidently and gracefully, they reveal their décolletage, highlighting the unprecedented rise in social status of women during the prosperous Tang Dynasty. Their lustrous, black hair is styled in the popular "high chignon" fashion, creating a striking visual effect. They wear exquisite red flower pins, emphasizing their dignified and charismatic personalities. The four spirited horses proudly lift their heads, adorned with red tassels. With just a few masterful brushstrokes, the artist captures their robust muscles and spirited presence, showcasing his exceptional skill. Meanwhile, the women in the painting have their legs draped on both sides of the saddle, guided by a green-robed attendant. Their equestrian posture is no different from that of men, evoking the famous Tang Dynasty painting Lady of Guoguo on a Spring Outing by the renowned artist Zhang Xuan. Peng Xiancheng faithfully draws inspiration from the poem, portraying a Tang Dynasty characterized by freedom, inclusivity, and grandeur. This resonates particularly well with the social status of contemporary women, adding a touch of relatability. Ethereal Grace: Delicate Charm, Like a Dream In this masterpiece, Peng Xiancheng showcases a profound artistic technique honed over more than five decades, rivalling that of the ancients. By skilfully integrating contemporary dynamic interplay of light, shadow, and colour, he bestows upon the artwork a remarkably layered and dramatic radiance. The entire painting is laid out with rich and vibrant ink and colours. The backdrop is adorned with expressive and vigorous ink lines, while the lush green hues depict the reawakening of spring, imbuing the scene with a sense of vitality and capturing the viewer's attention. The interaction between different groups of characters is artfully presented through the juxtaposition of colours and contrasts of light and darkness, elucidating a harmonious hierarchy. Lady of Guoguo and her entourage are portrayed using coloured ink, vividly bringing their garments to life. The white and light ochre-toned steeds exude a gentle radiance akin to the pristine snow of spring. The accompanying attendants, depicted in bold ink strokes, face away from the viewer as they pave the way for Lady of Guoguo, almost obscured by the surrounding vegetation, emphasizing her elevated status. Walking ahead, the female musicians maintain a certain distance from the equestrian procession. They engage in lively conversation while holding the percussive and stringed instruments of drums and lutes. Their dark-coloured attire is rendered with bold and sweeping brushworks, gradually merging into the ink washes on the right side. The dramatic interplay of light and shadow enhances the resplendence and commanding presence of Lady of Guoguo. Peng Xiancheng's painting exudes an ethereal and dreamlike quality, with vibrant colours that retain an exquisite elegance. It transports viewers to a Tang Dynasty seen through the lens of contemporary imagination, captivating their senses and inspiring a sense of wonderment.
