Label from "Rountree Tryon Gallery". 106 x 56 cm Note: Born in 1951, David Ord Kerr has established himself as a leading figure in the art world thanks to his immense talent and significant contribution to the Wildlife Art movement. Each painting reveals his deep admiration for nature, as well as a profound understanding of animal behavior and interactions. His expertise in composition and the interplay of light give his paintings an almost photographic dimension. The artist grew up in Hertfordshire, north of London, England, where he was surrounded by nature from an early age. His early experiences of camping and animal watching were the beginnings of his enduring passion for wildlife. After training at Hertford Grammar School in zoology, botany and painting, he worked for a time as a gamekeeper. In 1978, he was a member of the Wallace expedition to the Amazon, producing drawings of fish for the British Museum and drawings of plants to contribute to a monkey breeding project at Chester Zoo. Back in England, he took a foundation course at Hertfordshire College of Art & Design, then a three-year course at the Royal Academy Schools, where he won prizes in anatomical drawing and landscape painting. David Ord Kerr doesn't just depict animals visually, he seeks to convey emotions and tell stories with every brushstroke. His paintings are imbued with poetry and nostalgia, inviting viewers to reconnect with nature and realize the importance of wildlife preservation. As an icon of the Wildlife Art movement, David Ord Kerr has left an indelible mark on the art world, skilfully combining his love of nature with his exceptional artistic talent.
