A Chinese Famille Rose Buddhist emblem altar ornament, well modelled and enamelled in bright tones in the form of a circular openwork medallion enclosing one of the Eight Buddhist Emblems (bajixiang ), depicting a fish (a symbol of marriage, conjugal felicity, fertility, tenacity) sitting atop a lotus pod with recessed seeds nestled in a lotus blossom raised on a pierced stem, the whole raised on a domed base painted with petals and covered in turquoise enamel on the interior enclosing an iron red Daoguang six character mark, 30cm high
