During the Yellow Emperor's battle with Chiyou, another mythical tribal leader, Xuan Nv was sent by Heaven, leading the Troop of Thunder, to assist the Yellow Emperor, and bestowed various legendary artifacts, books and maps. With her help, Chiyou and his army could not hold out and were hence defeated by the Yellow Emperor.
