Depicting two prunus branches and two peonies "growing" from the foot on the exterior, the smaller branch with white blossoms extending clockwise, and the larger branch with pink blossoms extending counter-clockwise; both branches painted over the rim to the interior in "Guo Zhi" ("crossing branch") style, the interior centered by a branch of pink prunus, a smaller branch of white prunus to the side; two lingzhi and peonies grow from the branch, two insects above; the low circular footring with underglaze blue six-character regular script Yongzheng mark.

The present charger is based on the magnificent examples created for the Imperial court during the reign of the Yongzheng Emperor, for a 19 3/4 inch diameter dish with related decoration from the Qing Court collection, Yongzheng mark and of the period, see "The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum" vol. 39 "Porcelains with Cloisonné Enamel Decoration and Famille Rose Decoration", Hong Kong, 2008, p. 67, no. 27; Compare also the example sold at Christie's, Hong Kong, November 27, 2006, lot 1557; the example from the Meiyintang Collection, sold at Sotheby's October 5, 2011, lot 22; and the charger sold at Sotheby's, New York, March 18, 2021, lot 858. According to an article published in Orientations, October 1993, Ka Bo Tsang, "An Unusual Botanical Motif: The Bitter-Sweet Kugua", pp. 64-67, where it is noted that the meaning of the composition ("Guoqianzhi" ["Branch Over a Wall"]) evokes the expression "Changzhi" (long reign), thus the present charger would convey a wish for a long and prosperous reign, and the prunus, peony and Lingzhi would confer wishes for eternal youth and wealth.
