拍品描述
The piece is from the North West Company of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the major competitor and bitter rival of the Hudson Bay Fur Trading Co. The artifact shows a worked copper beaver pendant showing the hallmarks of "NWC." and "Montreal". The piece is from circa 1790-1810 and is on excellent set of white and red sea glass trade beads from the same era 18th-19th century. The North West Company was forced to merge with the Hudson Bay Co. by the British Government in 1821 due to their violent competition with several minor armed skirmishes breaking out. The piece pre-dates the merger and is an excellent museum quality early Northern Plains Native American Indian artifact. Beaver pendant measures 1 7/8"x3 7/8". The necklace is 34" in circumference. The piece is displayed in a glass top black case 16.25"x12.25".
