拍品描述
This is an original Pre-Columbian Aztec ceremonial pipe. The piece was recovered from the Tlatelolco site in the Valley of Mexico and dates to circa 1454-1457. The piece shows the figure of the fertility goddess, Coatlicue or "Serpent-Skirt". This is an excellent example of early Aztec authentic history. Tlateloco is known for its violent history, as it was the scene of the last stand of the Aztec in their war against the Spanish Conquistadors (40,000 Aztec men, woman, and children were said to have been slaughtered on one day). Measures 3 5/8"L x 2.25"W x 2.25"H.
