3 Folio Volumes Treasures of Shosoin Repositories (first started in 8th Century) lavishly Published in Japan 1962: "The North Section": large hardbound volume with numerous tipped-in color images, together with a softbound book with details in Japanese and English and fitted in a clam-shell storage box with perspectus and original cardboard shipping sleeve; "The South Section", large hardbound volume with numerous tipped-in color images, together with a softbound book with details in Japanese and English and fitted in a clam-shell storage box and original cardboard shipping sleeve; "Middle Section" large hardbound volume with numerous tipped-in color images, together with a softbound book with details in Japanese and English and fitted in a clam-shell storage box and original cardboard shipping sleeve. Good condition. NOTE: About 9,000 treasures of the Shosoin have only recently been opened and many are still to been seen. Much of the 9,000 have been identified as either Japanese or Tang Dynasty Chinese, while others have been identified from as far as India, Iran, Greece, Rome and Egypt. The Shosoin Collection is not open to the public and only a small selection can be viewed each year in Autumn at the Nara National Museum.
