XUANDE BLUE & WHITE DRAGON MEIPING VASE

拍品描述: The vase is thick potted of characteristic MeiPing form, It has a narrow base, a wide body, a narrow neck, and banded rim toward a small opening. The exterior decorated with hand painting in varius tones and shades cobalt blue underglazed of striding dragon amidst fume clouds and flames. Banded with auspicious pattern on collar and foot base. The glaze appearance on the blue painting resembled the texture of an orange peel "ju-pi" (chu-p'i) or a chicken skin. The porcelain vase is displayed upon a carved hardwood stand.
The underside base left unglazed, reveal pale-creme with burnt grayish-orange spots in the firing.

Mark on shoulder, a six blue script -KaiShu- characters, XuanDe Reign Period of Great Ming.
