MING WANLI LARGE BLUE & WHITE DRAGON JAR

拍品描述: Sturdily potted Chinese porcelain jar in to a deep vessel, swelled toward the rounded shoulder, gently tapered to the prominent short neck with wide opening, and lipped rim, raised on flat base. The exterior decorated in various rich tones in cobalt blue hand painting within four floral shaped cartouche depicting two dragons in pursuit of centralized wish-granted flaming pearl amidst fumes and flames, interspersed with further scrolling lotus and auspicious symbols within bands of geometrical patterns. The underside base left unglazed, revealed the pale-creme spiral patterned kiln proccess ground with burnt orange and darker spots in the firing. The interior initiate the conjugated mark between upper and lower parts of the jar during kiln process, and edge cut marks on the foot rim.

Mark on collar, a six blue script -KaiShu- characters enclosed within rectangular frame, WanLi Reign Period of Great Ming.
