拍品描述: Chinese porcelain water pot potted in a bell shaped body, rounded shoulder terminating the short prominent neck toward banded rim, raised on a flat base. The exterior deocrated with carmine red underglaze of stylized rooster, bordered with bands of interlocking meander under the rim, and foot, all sets against palin white underglaze ground. The rooster or cock is one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac.
Roosters are believed to be able to scare away demons.
The Chinese for rooster (gongji) is pronounced the same as "lucky" or "auspicious" (ji).

Mark on base, six blue script -KaiShu- characters mark enclosed within double fine blue rings, YongZheng Reign Period of Great Qing.
