Sturdily potted Chinese Ming Dynasty period porcelain in a baluster shape, has a tall feminine silhouette with broad shoulders and a body that tapers to the foot or pinches at the waist then elegantly fans near its foot. The baluster jar is capped by a relatively tall bell-shaped lid, in form of a general's helmet, crowned with an oval pinnacle. Highly decorated in cobalt blue under-glazed with circumbulating of vigorous dragon borne amidst fumes and flames. The immaculate porcelain body covered with a characteristic silky glaze, pooling on the base slightly veiling the mark. The clay is fine and exquisite, the glaze smooth with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous. Elegantly displayed upon a carved wooden stand, set inside a hardwood framed glass box.
Mark on base, six blue script -KaiShu- characters, enclosed within double fine rings, XuanDe Reign Period of Great Ming.
The portion of the sale will benefit a local church in Atlanta area.
