The generous Lapis-Lazuli carved in shape of a caparisoned standing figure of an elephant, with white-celadon jade tusks, with its hump covered with gilt bronze cloisonne blanket carrying GU shape vase with an inverted neck and flared rim on its back, decorated with colorful enamel filled cloisonne works details on the howda. The elephant is sometimes shown carrying a "treasure" vase (bao ping) on its back. Since the word "vase" (ping) has the same pronunciation as the word for "peace" (Ping'an), the implied meaning is "may you have 'good luck' (elephant) and 'peace' (vase)". Elegantly presented upon gilt bronze enamel cloisone works rectangular pedestal stands. A portion of this high-grade lapis lazuli is considered quite rare. The composition is sophisticated and the stone colors and vivid cloisonne works are simply a feast for the eye.
