STONES INLAID GILT BRONZE BUDDHA FIGURE OF ACHALA

A Ming Dynasty Chinese Sino-Tibetan Gilt Bronze and semi-precious stones inlaid Buddha Figure of Achala (English: the Immovable One. Although wrathful in appearance, the Sita Achala (white), the second of the two forms is a wisdom and intelligence producing meditational deity similar to Manjushri, Sarasvati, Prajnaparamita, White Vajravarahi and Maitreya.
The gilt bronze sclupture of Lord Acala. With one face, two hands, the right hand brandishing to the sky is a sword fiercely flaming with a mass of wisdom fire and the left hand at the heart, in a wrathful gesture. With bared fangs, biting down on the lower lip, possessing three eyes, the right gazes upward completely eliminating heavenly daemons. The left gazes down, destroying nagas, spirits of disease and earth lords. The middle gazes forward completely eliminating all types of obstacles. Black hair, tied in a black tuft on the crown of the head; with jewel ornaments and various silks as a lower garment. The heel of the right foot and the left knee are pressing down on the lotus throne. The sclupture is characterized with semi-precious stones inlaid, including lapis-lazuli, turquoise, and red coral. Extensive trace of gilt and dark-blue pigment on the hair. The underside with incised quatrefoil flori-form petal visvavajra marki. The back of Buddha shows a rectangular cut-out, a precisely fitting bronze comes with the sculpture.

PROVENANCE:
The private collections of Earl Sorensen, based out of Atlanta, is known as a prominent Buddha collector. A International businessman whom trades with various Asian countries during the 1960s. On a business trip in Western China, he received a Buddha statue as gift from a monk. Since then, he has became fascinated with Buddhist artifacts and Eastern cultures. After many decades, Earl Sorensen has planned his retirement, and decided to pass his beloved collections to appreciate collectors. Earl Sorensen's collections can be found from Lot-55 through Lot-65, and from Lot-93 through Lot-110.

Over all in EXCELLENT condition. With normal anomalies in nature, missing some stones inlaid, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dents. Surface traced wear and or declined to gilding. some missing stones inlaid. Normal, consider ages and wear.
