Provenance: Formerly from a private family collection prior to 1934 and by descent to a lady until sold Dreweatts, 12th November, 2018, lot 237, (£44,000). This group of wares once formed part of a larger service sold in Dublin, 16th October, 1934, lot 545, Catalogue of the valuable contents of Kilmoroney, Athy, Co. Kildare, by direction of Sir Anthony Weldon, Bart, by Messrs. Jackson Stops & Joyce. In the Dublin sale catalogue lot 545 was described as a: 'Very important dinner and desert service of Oriental porcelain ... 147 pieces. Finely painted in enamel colours ... depicting domestic life, amusements and occupations of the Chinese.' The full description is located on page 21 of the 1934 catalogue, and there is also a photograph of part of the lot illustrated on the facing page. ? The service features a design loosely known as the 'Rockefeller pattern' or 'Palace' ware. This is not an 18th century name, but reflects the fact that a very handsome and extensive service of this pattern was once owned by the distinguished American collector John D. Rockefeller Jnr. Americans also call similar wares 'Palace ware' which was a term used by the generation of buyers in New York, Boston and Philadelphia in the 1930s. For similar examples see, Ronald W. Fuchs, Export Porcelain from the Leo and Doris Hodroff Collection at Winterthur, Winterthur, 2005, p.99, no.57 for a tureen and cover and see Howard and Ayres, China for the West, fig 187. Also, Micheal Beurdeley and Guy Raindre, Qing Porcelain, p. 170-171, where they note, 'the quality of the decoration and the range of colours suggest that the entire service was made in the great imperial factory of Jingdezhen'. 清乾隆 广彩描金山水人物洛克菲勒瓷餐具一套(28件) 拍品来源:英国私人家族于1934年之前旧藏 ?
