Late Qing/Republic period
Of tall rectangular section, both depicting characters from the
‘Register of the Peerless’ (Wushuang Pu), the first depicting the
Eastern Han-era female historian Ban Zhao below a lengthy
description of her historical contributions inscribed within an open
traditionally-bound book, the second depicting the Eastern Zhou/
Western Han elderly dissident to the Qin regime Fu Sheng below a
stack of books inscribed with an ode to his bravery; mounted within
very large frames.
