Lot Essay This sword may be signed by Kunisada I (-1652) during his late career or signed by Kunisada II (Inoue Shinkai) on behalf of the artist. Kunisada I received the name of Izumi no kami in the nineth year of Gen’na (1623). According to Yoshida Hideo (b. 1947), While Kunisada I kept producing swords until 1651, after 1645 Shinkai often signed on Kunisada I behalf due to the artist’s increasing health issues.
