拍品描述
PROPERTY OF VARIOUS OWNERS
A STRAW-GLAZED EARTHENWARE HU-SHAPED JAR AND COVER
Vietnam, Giao Chi Period, 1st-3rd century
The pear-shaped body potted supported on a flared foot and rising to a tall, waisted neck and wide mouth, two loop handles applied to the shoulder, covered overall in a straw glaze darkening toward the foot from firing, the domed cover with finely incised herringbone patterns and an angular knop.

12 3/8in (31.4cm) high
Please note this Lot is to be sold at No Reserve.

This jar was produced in Vietnam during a period of Chinese occupation under the Han dynasty. Like other wares of the Giao Chi period, it adopts a Chinese shape. Yet these Vietnamese ceramics have distinguishing features such as taller feet and more dramatically tapered necks. Another example is in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (1989.740).
